Obert Skye

One of my favorite book series is Leven Thumps.  A friend of mine recommended them to me a while back and I've anxiously awaited each book as it comes out.  I've read all 4 so far and am waiting for the 5th and final installment to arrive later this year (I hope!).

Chase came home from school last week and informed me that the author of the Leven Thumps series, Obert Skye, would be coming to the school to talk to the 5th and 6th graders.  I think I was more excited than Chase!  

In preparation, Chase decided to start reading the series and finished the 1st book in just a couple of days and is really close to the end of the second.  I'm so glad my kids love to read, like me!


Obert Skye was kind enough to sign all 4 of my books!  Since Chase was the student and waited in the line he signed the first one to him.  When he went for the other 3 books I quickly interrupted and asked him to sign the rest to me because I bought the books and read them first!  He thought it was funny that I was the only adult there and I wanted them signed to ME!


He was a very nice man.  
I really think I met him once at a bookstore in Albuquerque.  
He looked sooooooo familiar!  
I'm glad I got my books signed!

You probably did meet him. He used to run the Deseret here in ABQ. He's the same guy who wrote Baptists at Our Barbeque and a bunch of other very LDS pop culture books (Robert Smith). His agent had him come up with a pen name so his Leven Thumps series wouldn't be "labeled" as LDS. Funny, huh?!

I thought so...he was really trying hard to keep up the Obert persona around the kids so I didn't want to pry right there in the school gym. I'll let him have his fun!

Has my absence made your heart grow fonder?

Just wondering... I'm back I'm behind I'm intimidated There is no way that I can "catch up" with this blog.  It's a daunting task.  It's one reason I'm so far behind!  I want to post but then I see the enormous amount of time and posts that have past since my last and I walk away. So...I will sum up.   Sorry...wordy and no pictures. After our fun trip to Moberly, MO, we joined Jen, her kids and Gma J in a caravan to SLC for the Plewe Family Reunion.  We were so excited to be traveling with family making travel life more fun with cousins!  We did have fun but the hellish travel trends continued to plague us!  At one stop Gma locked her keys in the car...we waited for a LONG time till AAA could come and break us in.  This put us into our first stop pretty late but nothing unmanageable.  However, when we got to our hotel in Cheyenne, WY the hotel we had a reservation at (and called to confirm just a couple hours before) had given our ...
