PHX to Moberly with a stop in Hell

  • Armed with my new van, we headed out for our annual trip to Missouri.  Our plan was to camp with Pam's family in southern Missouri for a few days then head on up to Moberly for Scott's family fun.  We always take 3 days to get to MO...stop in ABQ, stop in OKC.  About 10 miles out of ABQ our NEW van decided it didn't want to work anymore.  The transmission failed and we crawled to Greg and Cheryl's house.  It was really late so we went to bed but the next day was all about how to fix the car...aborting the trip...renting a car to go home or keep going...flying home...what are we going to do?!  Our final decision was to abandon the camping gear at G&C's, rent a car (warranty helped pay for) and head straight out to Moberly, missing all the camping fun with Pam's family.  :( 

  • We left the Sienna at the Toyota Dealership in ABQ and headed out in our rented GMC Acadia.  We asked for a car with a luggage rack, which they gave us.  When we got the car, it DID have a luggage rack but it DID NOT have the cross bars to hook the topper to.  So...my Tetris skills came in handy as we packed a ton of stuff into this mid-size SUV.



Smaller than the van but we fit all the stuff we needed!



We called that space Rylee is in "The Hole"
because it was so small only Rylee and Carson could fit!


We love hotels!

The broken down car wasn't the only hellish part of the trip
Something diverted us 2 hours out of our way from OKC to Moberly


Never ending line of traffic
Oy vey...

Has my absence made your heart grow fonder?

Just wondering... I'm back I'm behind I'm intimidated There is no way that I can "catch up" with this blog.  It's a daunting task.  It's one reason I'm so far behind!  I want to post but then I see the enormous amount of time and posts that have past since my last and I walk away. So...I will sum up.   Sorry...wordy and no pictures. After our fun trip to Moberly, MO, we joined Jen, her kids and Gma J in a caravan to SLC for the Plewe Family Reunion.  We were so excited to be traveling with family making travel life more fun with cousins!  We did have fun but the hellish travel trends continued to plague us!  At one stop Gma locked her keys in the car...we waited for a LONG time till AAA could come and break us in.  This put us into our first stop pretty late but nothing unmanageable.  However, when we got to our hotel in Cheyenne, WY the hotel we had a reservation at (and called to confirm just a couple hours before) had given our ...
