GERONIMO!!!

Chase's 4th grade class was given the assignment to research a famous person from Arizona. They called it a "wax museum" project. Chase was given Geronimo to research. He had to write a full report on him and then stand up in front of his class, the 3rd graders, and parents (all at seperate times- he recited it 3 times!) to recite his MEMORIZED report. The whole class stood like wax museum statues around the classroom with their backdrops behind them, in costume and recited their reports. I was really impressed with those kids! The costumes were great, the backdrops were nice (except Chase's) and they all recalled the information flawlessly. My Chase has an amazing memory. I wasn't surprised that he could do it...but I was still amazed at how much he had memorized.

Telling the story
all from memorization
itchy head after from Dad's hat
Carson was good throughout the presentations but after he got to play with Chase's classmates
Geronimo and John Wesley Powell or Chase and Nevan

I'm so grateful for Mrs. Shields. She has been the best teacher for Chase. She has dealt with his crazyness, his ADD, his allergy attacks, and his silly sense of humor all year. Even with all that she has decided to move up to 5th grade next year right along with her 4th graders! We got to choose to stay with her for next year and it will be so great! She already knows Chase and how to get him to do his best so there won't be any "get to know you" phase in the beginning of the year...they can just get right on with the learning!

A funny note: Mitchell did the exact same thing when he was in 4th grade. His teacher, Mrs. Wirstrom, decided to do the same thing and moved up to 5th grade with her 4th graders. I thought it was a funny coincidence that both my 4th graders (so far) have moved up with their teachers.

p.s. After all this research Chase did and him constantly yelling "GERONIMO!!" any time he jumped, I decided to find out why people yell "Geronimo!" when they jump. It's a pretty interesting story I found on Wikipedia - CLICK HERE to read the story.

Dad - D'oh! This kids didn't scan that pic...only photo copied it. I'll have to see if I can scan the copy.

Kristina - sorry, Intel made us go to Amazing Jakes where everything was free all night...couldn't pass that up!

My kids have all done wax museums too. I was trying to remember who they were. I just found a link to a web page to see Brent as Brigham Young (back in 2003). You'll have to show Chase:

BTW...I love all the updates!
