Turkey Campout - 11/21-22/08
Scout Troop 582 had their FIRST annual Turkey Campout the weekend before Thanksgiving. Our ward in Albuquerque (the fabulous Bandelier Ward) has done this for I think 8 or 9 years now and it's something Scott really misses. So he decided to convince the troop here to start the same tradition. They go up the night before and have a light dinner and some campfire fun. Then the next morning is a light breakfast to save room for the FULL Thanksgiving Lunch they all pitched in to make! There were all the trimmings...stuffing, green bean casserole, potatoes...and 2 turkeys! One was cooked in a reflective charcoal "oven" and the other deep fried. All of this was cooked camp-style over the fire in dutch ovens and such. It was all amazing and they even had enough food to invite some from neighboring campsites to join them!
We hope this is the start of a GREAT holiday tradition in this GREAT ward (the amazing Shamrock Farms Ward)!!

It's working!
